I have lifeguarded for 2 years, as well. Most of the guests at the pool were children.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love incorporating kiddos into cleaning with me, as to me, it helps them learn to be tidy. My example of this is help picking up toys they had left out. However, I of course, do not expect anything at all, as they are children. I really enjoy playing outdoors at a park, or with chalk, or activities of that nature with kids! I think it is always great for kiddos to be outdoors. I also really love playing board games as an indoor activity. When it’s time to wind down, I always think a good, funny, kids movie, or a children’s book is the way to go.
The most important part about being a nanny...
To me the most important part about being a nanny is being sure children are provided for while the parent/guardian is away. I highly believe during that time kiddos should be having fun, all while incorporating basic life skills for them to learn. However, a main focus of mine is the safety of kids and being sure that they have a trustworthy caregiver while their parent/guardian is busy. I also try to make children feel comfortable around me, so they also feel as if I have created a safe environment for them.
My experience with special needs children...
About 2 years ago, I volunteered at a special needs field day at the Bridgeport Elementary School. I had a blast and it was great being able to make the less included kids feel so included all while watching them enjoy themselves and have fun! I don’t have a ton of experience with special needs children, however, I am open to learning!
