I have been a part time nanny for the last 6 months for 3 kids aged 6, 5, and 1. I worked with special needs children and adults ages 16-70 through a volunteer service for 3 years as well! I have been babysitting since I was 13 years old!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love taking kids on outdoor "adventures"! Scavenger hunts, picnics, splash pads, anything that can help get them off of their screens, and spending quality time with each other! I enjoy coloring, painting, and anything that involves crafting! I love reading to kids and making up stories that they will love!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny for me is making sure that these kids are growing up in a safe and creative environment. I think it is so important for a child's imagination to get regular exercise, and I love coming up with creative ways to give them those experiences.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked with a volunteer service for 3 years called SNAP where we would do activities with special needs children! Many of the participants were adults, but one child in particular that I worked with was 14 and on the autism spectrum! Me and him bonded over our love for music and I got to spend a lot of time with him, helping him play games, listen to music, and dance with the other participants!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was when my kid's mom was trying to limit screentime by saying YouTube was "broken". The kids were so upset so I told them we could make our own videos! We went to the park and brought a lot of their toys, they started out playing with them and talking to the phone, but eventually had so much fun at the park they forgot all about the phone!
