I was a Girl Scout Leader for 12 years. I also volunteered with a local childrens theatre group. I assisted in getting the children ready for stage as well as keeping them busy when they were off stage.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy age appropriate activities which include reading, baking, crafts, going to the park, playing outdoors or a nice walk. I like to use play for learning, an example may be if we are on a walk I would say lets find five red leaves. The child usually enjoys that they are not just walking but are engaged in an activity.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters most to me about being a nanny first and foremost is keeping your child safe and happy. What being a nanny brings to me is pure joy. There is nothing like spending your day with a young child and seeing life through their eyes. Watching them grow and learn brings joy to each day. I have worked behind a desk and its pretty routine but with a child, yes there has to be routine, but in each day its how they go through the day that takes away the routine feeling.

The most important part about being a nanny...

So many moments are memorable to me but one that comes to mind is when we were reading a peek a boo book and the little girl I was reading to found the word hippo funny and she kept repeating the word hippo and we just kept laughing. The innocent moments that you get to experience through a child makes you slow down and realize what's truly important taking time to laugh and enjoy the small moments.
