I pride myself on bringing passion, energy, and love into my job. I recently finished my B.S. in Human Development and Family Science with a focus on early child education and psychology. My goal is to become a parent coach and developmental consultant. I am certified in CPR and First Aid. I emphasize and practice positive reinforcement, creative problem solving, and clear communication practices. I have experience with Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and RIE methodology, and have taken coursework in other ECE approaches. I am very passionate about somatic integration and autonomy building. "Maya is such an amazing person. She's always on time, and notifies us if she's going to be a bit late. She's proactive in scheduling her days, and is great in communicating with us in all aspects. With the kids, she's engaging and warm. She allows them to adapt to her with kind and open encouragement, and she manages conflict with ease. Overall she is trustworthy, honest, punctual, and simply fantastic."

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Girl Scouts, Summer Camp Counselor, tutor, Outdoor School teacher, Scouts BSA, HeadStart, community preschools, nannying

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love being outside! Scavenger hunts, nature walks, water fun, you name it! I like to give children options to determine how they best enjoy spending their time. If provided with a family vehicle, I am able to take kiddos out on adventures all over town! I have also worked as a personal trainer and wellness coach, and I have many activities in-home and outside to exercise developing mind and encourage skill development.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The ability to connect with a child and make a positive difference in their lives by being a friendly role model as well as a caregiver. I also think that adaptability to parental choices and different caregiving styles is essential in order to streamline communication and be the most effective nanny I can be.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked with kids with ADHD, autism, and other behavioral challenges. I see special needs as opportunities for creativity and am open to learning as much as I can about families with different needs. Most of my experience is with medical needs, including physical disabilities such as diabetes and cerebral palsy. I also have experience in a Head Start program working with disadvantaged children and families, experiencing behavioral and mental health challenges, socioeconomic strain, and diverse cultural backgrounds as a preschool teacher!

The most important part about being a nanny...

My nanny kiddos one year gifted me with a stuffed animal of my favorite animal, which we had spent the whole summer learning about together. It is one of my most prized possessions! The connections I am able to make with kiddos is the best part of the job, and knowing that they see me as a friend is very important to me.
