My experience with special needs children...
My mother worked in the mental health field, taking care of individuals with disabilities, which lead me to families who were in need of babysitting said individuals when events would come up. I’ve currently taken care of two people with special needs - one the age of 10, who had cerebral palsy, and the other 23 with down syndrome.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I was taking care of a five year old little boy who had a hard time with reading. We would spend time every day going over stories to help with his struggles. I remember we had read one short story all the way through without troubles and the excitement on his face felt incredibly rewarding.
