A little bit about me

Hello, my name is Megan Griffin. I started working with kids when my twin sisters were born when I was 8 years old. I continued to work with children through my high school career, whether it be teaching swimming lessons or babysitting. I have a bachelor's of science in Child Development and Family Studies. I worked in the mental health field for 13 years, I also have worked in a school district with children who have emotional support problems. I am CPR and FIRST AID certification. I have all of my clearances. I enjoy working with kids and would be excited if you chose me.

•I have worked with emotional/and mental health children. Mainly focused on children with Autism.
I have taught swimming lessons.My main focus was working with 2-3 year olds.

•I have worked in my church nursery. I worked with infants up until two years old.

•I have had many babysitting jobs, while I was a teenager.

•When my sister's I was 8 when they were born I helped my Mom take care of them.

I have worked in the school setting working again with children who had mental and emotional health problems.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy playing outside with children. Especially going to the park. I love playing with chalk and blowing bubbles. I love planting seeds with the children so they can watch them grow. I love painting outside. Riding bikes. I love tye dying and going for walks. I love swimming and enjoy teaching kids how to swim or just playing in the water.

My experience with special needs children...

I have care for child children on the spectrum. I have cared for children who are non verbal to high functioning autistic child.

I have worked with Opposite Defiant disorder. I have found that these children thrive on getting your attention when they are doing something they're not supposed to do. I use planned ignoring unless they are causing harm to themselves or to others. I have also found that asking them to help you rather then make a demand they respond better.

I have worked with children who do not have any social skills. I would make him say hello to someone knew everyday.

I have worked with a child that would laugh when things were said. For example: his uncle died ad he couldn't stop laughing. Turns out that; that was his coping mechanism.
