I have worked as a volunteer instructional assistant in the Learning Resource Center where I was able to learn many new aspects of how to properly handle specific scenarios. I was also a member and now leader of a 4-H group that taught the youth to handle and train dogs, as an older member I was able to take a more active role in problem solving and de escalating situations where there children did not wish to listen to directions.

I will always find games or activities that I feel best fit the child’s interests. I enjoy drawing, coloring, playing (with toys or our imagination), reading, and many other things. Whatever I can manage to do to maintain the happiness of a child in my care, I will do it!

The most important thing about being a nanny is the ability to ensure the parents guidelines are being followed while still keeping a fun and upbeat environment! Parents should be able to go about their day without worrying about their child’s safety. Children should be able to enjoy the time that the parents are gone but also be happy when they return.

A very touching moment I was able to have with a child I worked with was when they were feeling homesick due to a move and I was able to help them communicate why it was they were struggling as well as how they could do things to fix it. Many of the children I have supervised have held special places in my hearts even years after I stop watching them.
