"Melissa is a very caring, gentle, loving woman. She takes pride in everything she does for the children. I used Melissa when I was a single mom of three, so naturally when I married my husband and we became pregnant, I knew she was who I wanted to care for our newborn. She has helped our family in so many ways as my husband was injured on the line of duty, I could always count on her to be there while I cared for my husband. I knew they were in good hands. She became more of our family than just a nanny."

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Love playing outside in nice weather; chalk; bikes; in the mud while using our imagination; racing; building castles.
Indoors using their imaginations by building forts, make believe in another world, any kind of arts and crafts, learning games, teaching them songs or rhymes/poems, educational games, books, legos; cardboard box fun, cooking/baking, coloring, the possibilities are endless.
Making sure that our activities tie into their milestones is also important to me and supporting the family in their own teachings.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Being able to connect with the children and understand how they communicate. Children don't come once size fits all and being able to figure out their personalities and how they learn will help me as a nanny, understand how to work with them and relay to the parents what I've observed as an outsider to hopefully help them if there are ever any issues within the child's life (school; socially or academically, personal relationships; friends, families, teachers, etc.; internally; depression, behavioral issues, etc.)
Being empathetic is another major aspect of what helps when dealing with children.
Making sure that they are being respected and understood is very important to them. Children often feel misunderstood.
Sharing similar interests whether it's a sport, the arts, animals, books, or dinosaurs! Children love when you are truly enjoying the activities they have interest in.
Lastly, children NEED to feel safe and acknowledged as a person with their own ideas and personality.

The most important part about being a nanny...
When my very difficult charge refused to go to school unless I was there taking her. Her father was unable to get her out of bed and into the car until Noon if at all.
When I would get there early in the morning, it was no issue for me. Her and I had jutual respect established and she understood that it was necessary for her to get to school so I could go to work as well
