More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Hello! I’m Melony and I absolutely love working with children! As a mother and aunt, I have experience caring for babies and children of all ages and temperaments. I’ve taught Sunday School (infants to high school) and served as a substitute teacher (1st-6th grade). I’ve also worked with children and adults with special needs, which has increased my patience and compassion. My focus will be on creating a positive, fun, and nurturing environment where children feel safe and happy. I’m skilled in conflict resolution and helping siblings or their playmates navigate challenges with kindness, love, and forgiveness.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love engaging children in both indoor and outdoor activities. Indoors, we can enjoy arts and crafts like painting or making DIY projects. I also love reading stories, building with Legos, solving puzzles, and playing board games. We can bake simple treats, do pretend play, or even have fun with music and dancing. Outdoors, we can go to the park, plant flowers in small flower pots, ride bikes, skates or scooters, have a picnic at the park. I enjoy using chalk for sidewalk art or setting up a fun treasure hunt. Water play on a warm day or gardening together can also be exciting. We can fly kites, explore with bug and leaf collections, or simply enjoy the outdoors. Whatever the activity, I aim to create a fun, positive, and nurturing environment that fosters learning and joy.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is building a safe, nurturing, and trusting environment where children can thrive emotionally, mentally, and physically. A nanny not only provides care but also supports the child’s development by fostering positive relationships, encouraging learning, and modeling good behavior. Clear communication with the parents, ensuring their values and routines are upheld, is also essential. Ultimately, creating a bond based on trust and respect between the nanny, child, and family is key to ensuring the child’s well-being and growth.
My experience with special needs children...
I’ve had extensive experience working with children with special needs in various settings. As a Sunday School teacher, I’ve adapted lessons to engage children of all abilities, ensuring they felt included and supported in learning about faith. In my role as a substitute teacher, I’ve worked one-on-one with students, tailoring my approach to meet their unique needs, whether that meant extra patience, guidance, or creating fun ways to understand lessons. My most personal experience is with my own son, for whom I’ve been a strong advocate, attending IEP meetings and fighting for his rights under the No Child Left Behind Act. Ensuring he received the resources and support needed to thrive has deepened my passion for advocating for children with disabilities. This journey has taught me the value of patience, love, and understanding, qualities I bring into all my interactions with children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my most cherished memories with the girls from my Sunday School class was hosting a sleepover in a luxurious hotel penthouse suite in Korea. With the help of several moms, we welcomed about 20 excited girls, each bringing their sleeping bags and favorite games. They had a blast enjoying the jacuzzi, and we filled the night with fun, games, and delicious food. The next day, we enjoyed lunch at one of the hotel's restaurants. It was heartwarming to see the girls crying the following morning, not wanting the experience to end. We truly had a wonderful time together!
