With kids I typically do crafts like darwing sculpting building ect.. we also do board games and shows.
My experience with special needs children...
Most are low functioning. I mostly do crafts and talk with them. I'm normally good at keeping them calm, and getting the kiddos to participate and doffernt activities after getting to know them but the first few days or weeks are gonna be difficult depending on the kid.

Because of this, I had to think outside of the box or simply make my box bigger in order to teach the skills needed in order for my students to catch up.
