Hello, I usually go by the name Mae. I’ve always grown up around kids and been expected to play with and watch family members kids because they knew how much I loved it. And I did! From childhood to now, I would always expect myself to take the childcare route in life. Children bring me more joy than the average person, I believe. I tend to grow close with them and create an indescribable bond with them to where no matter the situation, they can be honest and never feel guilt or fear even if they do something wrong. To me children are learning as they go, and any mistake (big or small) is never to be judged or bring any adult to anger. They get the same respect out of me as an adult or elder gets because any age person deserves it. Besides my outlook on children, I am a mother of a toddler (boy), I am a joyful, passionate, fun girl. I like to read, write, drive around and try new foods ! I look forward to speak with any family interested in me becoming their new nanny!!!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I cared for 2 sweet girls (age 4 turned 5, and 6). My duty was to come to their home after school and do homework with them, meal prep and serve dinner, bathe them at night, have play time on weekdays and movie nights on Fridays, brush their teeth, and tuck them into bed after they both read a short book before lights were out. They truly were a joy and very intelligent. Working with them was something I enjoyed and loved but was short lived as my time with them was needed temporarily.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

There are both indoors and outdoors activities that I enjoyed.

Indoors: baking with them, doing puzzles and card games (of course I let them win!), coloring, and all the kids love the “red light green light game” and their giggles make me enjoy it as well.

Outdoors: Going to a playground, Waterparks, Christmas lights, sports like soccer or flag football, obstacle couses, and riding bikes, scooters, or roller scates down the sidewalk of their neighborhood with them!

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters to be about being a nanny is that I can connect with the children and the parents very well. I also find it important that I (and all nannies) have an emotional connection to the family and the job because children are to be loved and cared for at all times. If that doesn’t exist in the heart of a nanny, I feel it isn’t a great job match for them. Alongside that, I feel importance in being attentive and actually talk to the child about anything and everything (obviously child appropriate) no matter the age. Infant to adolescent, every child needs to connect and feel comfortable with their care givers (Mom, dad, grandparents, aunts and uncles, nannies, teachers, coaches, etc).

My experience with special needs children...

I worked for a mother with an autistic 6 year old daughter. She wasn’t nonverbal, but it was a task to get her to speak to me so I can understand her wants in certain moments. She liked a lot of the same things everyday, and grew comfortable with me fast. Those two combined made it very easy to understand her feelings, desires, needs and more. The more she used her words with me, the more my heart felt warm from how a girl who’s relatively shy, grew close to me very quickly! The experience I had with her was a blast, and I enjoyed everyday I worked with her.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The challenges always!! I loved figuring out what my past family’s daughter wanted or what she was upset about/how to soothe her. Once I get that down, everything is a piece of cake.
