I have worked in MOPS, as a private babysitter for many families, in church nursery and Sunday school, as an baby-3rd grade instructor in a homeschool summer program, as a babysitter in my own immediate and extended family, and as a special needs caregiver. Through these jobs I have taken care of newborns and children from 1-12.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Depending on the ages of the children, I enjoy teaching them songs and making instruments out of everyday items. I have bags of age appropriate items that may include puzzles, books, stuffed animals, cats dolls, etc. I love the outdoors and so I often bring children on walks or to a nearby park. I have a hatful of many games and things to do that use imagination. I love to act things out and foster spaces of learning and imagination.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny to me is the safety of the child and the mind of the child. It is very important to me that children are safe and feel safe with me and in the environment they are in. If they don’t feel comfortable, even if they are safe, I am not comfortable. I combat this by getting down to their level and taking proactive steps to nullify their fears. One of my favorite parts about child care is watching a child who was wary of me, grow to love me and trust me. I also love to see children grow whether that is from motor skills as babies or asking hard, thought provoking questions as five year olds. Children are a lot more capable than we think they are and as a nanny I seek to pull their best selves out and help them to be the best people that they can be. Children learn through what they do, and as a caregiver I am there to guide them through whatever they need to be guide their learning.

I have had experience being the primary caregiver for a 14 year old special needs child who was completely dependent.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One favorite moment that comes to mind is a ten year old child that I babysat. He was brilliant, but pretty socially averse. At the beginning of the night, he was pretty unresponsive and wary, but by playing games and doing things together he grew more and more comfortable with me. By the end of the night he was laughing and having such a fun time and asked his mom if I could come back every day. I ended up babysitting him and his brother several more times after that and it was sweet to get to be a part of their lives in a small way.
