Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked as a private at-home nanny for a young girl with autism, caring for her Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM. I became her primary caregiver while her parents were at work, learning her routines, sensory needs, and food preferences. I focused on keeping her calm, engaged, and supported throughout the day. I also communicated closely with her parents about her behaviors and developmental needs, which helped them begin exploring evaluations for her disability. I even joined the family on vacations, gaining experience supporting her in new environments while keeping her routine consistent.

I enjoy hands-on activities that help kids learn and express themselves, especially sensory play, arts and crafts, simple science activities, and outdoor time. I also like creating routines that mix fun and structure—things like story time, learning games, and activities based on their interests and developmental needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

For me, the most important part of being a nanny is building trust and providing a safe, loving, and consistent environment where children can grow and be themselves. I believe in meeting each child where they are, supporting their needs, and working closely with parents to make sure their child feels understood, supported, and cared for every day.

My experience with special needs children...

I have direct experience caring for a child with autism, which taught me patience, communication, and how important it is to understand each child’s unique needs. I learned how to support sensory sensitivities, how to recognize triggers, and how to adjust activities to keep her calm and engaged. I also gained skills in redirecting behaviors, maintaining routines, and collaborating with parents to support the child’s development.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment was when the little girl I cared for became comfortable enough to try a new hands-on activity we had been working toward for weeks. Seeing her confidence grow and knowing I helped create a safe space for her to learn made me feel truly connected to what I do.
