A little bit about me

Hi, New Nanny Family,

I gained most of my 10+ years of childcare experience working exclusively as a Nanny, Babysitter, Tutor, Museum Educator, SPED Teacher, Montessori Educator, and STEM Activity Specialist. These opportunities bestowed much of the knowledge I have today. I have a B. S. and a Certificate in Crisis Prevention and Intervention. Furthermore, I completed two teaching fellowships, including one with Teachers College at Columbia University and an M.A. in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Education/Teaching Students with Disabilities (Dual Certification)

As a childcare professional, I love working with 2E children and children with other special needs (ASD) and/or learning disabilities. I have extensive experience with infants (Newborn Care Specialist) and stellar references. I am committed to seeking opportunities to invest in my professional and educational development. I value strong, honest, and respectful communication.

I hope to hear from you soon!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I'm a former Early Childhood Special Education Teacher. I have also worked as a Museum Educator, STEM Activity Specialist, Nanny, Babysitter, Tutor, and RBT (Registered Behavioral Technician) providing ABA therapy.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

It’s so important to get outside and have children understand nature; that is why I believe in keeping screen time to an absolute minimum. When indoors, arts and crafts are fun. Learning independence through age-appropriate work.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Educating with a positive growth mindset. Treating kids with dignity and respect is essential to being a nanny. In addition to keeping them intellectually stimulated, a nanny must compassionately care for them.

My experience with special needs children...

M.A. in Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Education/Teaching Students with Disabilities (Dual Certification) (Orton-Gillingham trained and certified)

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of my favorite memories is caring for a ten-year-old who had a challenging time losing and would have behavioral outbursts that would get him into trouble. We began playing board games such as Risk with him and implemented a rule that no matter how the game ends, we must say “Good game” and shake each other’s hands. As the weeks passed, I saw him becoming less upset when he lost the game. I pride myself on taking an individualized approach to working with children.

Madeline L. - Seeking Work in Brooklyn

Full-Time Child Care Provider Available in Brooklyn, NY: Madeline L.

Hi! I’m Madeline, a Rochester, NY native looking to relocate to Brooklyn. I have several years of childcare experience with children ranging from toddlers to elementary school age. I’ve worked long-term with two families, caring for two sisters from ages 2 and 3 through ages 4 and 5, and a young boy from age 3 through age 4. I also have additional babysitting experience with school-aged children.

I’m warm, patient, dependable, and love getting to know each child’s unique personality and interests. I enjoy arts and crafts, reading, imaginative play, outdoor adventures, and trips to libraries, museums, and parks. Outside of childcare, I’m a freelance journalist and photographer, so creativity and curiosity are a big part of who I am. I love encouraging kids to explore, ask questions, and try new things, and I hope to find a family in Brooklyn with whom I can build a warm and lasting relationship.
