A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Monica, though I go by Mo, or Ms. Mo with the kids. I am a dedicated caregiver with over a decade of experience and a well-rounded skill set. For the past 5 years, I’ve been a youth dance teacher, using a creative, energetic approach to engage children. Additionally, I’ve spent 2 years as a behavior technician, working with neurodivergent youth, gaining patience, empathy, and strategies to support children with diverse needs.

I am also a certified ESL teacher, able to offer language support for children learning English or provide general tutoring. My services include meal prep, light cleaning, educational support, transportation, and creating a safe, fun environment for kids.

As a full-time college student, I am available for babysitting on Fridays through Sundays. I look forward to bringing my passion for nurturing young minds into your home. Thank you for considering me to care for your children!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

With years of experience in afterschool dance programs, dance studios, and community events throughout San Diego, I've had the privilege of teaching hip hop dance to youth. As Youth Troupe Director at Cultureshock Training Academy, I directed rehearsals, communicated with parents, and created a positive, supportive learning environment. I teach kids to be more than just good dancers—they learn to understand their bodies, their role in choreography, and their place in the world. Through metaphors and creative thinking, I encourage students to reflect on how they present themselves as dancers and people. I translate dance lessons into real-world skills, such as teamwork, respect, and problem-solving. I also help students connect through dance, teaching them essential networking and collaboration skills for life. My focus is on self-expression through freestyle, allowing kids to combine technique with individuality, empowering them as dancers and individuals.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

- Arts and Crafts
- Science Experiments
- Sports
- All sorts of games, and toy play
- Homework
- Dancing
- Video games
- I enjoy doing whatever makes them happy

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part about being a nanny for me, is the modeling aspect. Every decision and action I make is a modeling source for the children to learn. Therefor the way I respond to temperaments is calming and reflective. Things are easy when compliance is involved, so patience is key when dealing with big feelings.

My experience with special needs children...

I have extensive experience working with children with special needs, where I’ve developed a creative and patient approach to redirection and self-calming techniques. Understanding that every child processes the world differently has taught me the importance of connecting with their unique interests and needs. By tapping into their world, I’m able to encourage and empower them, helping them grow in essential life skills. I focus on fostering an environment that supports their individuality, guiding them toward success through personalized strategies and emotional growth.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moments are all the moments. The moments we laugh and play, as well as learning moments that may be tough on emotions. I enjoy working with youth and it’s an honor to be a part of their development to becoming independent in this world. I take pleasure in knowing I am bringing light into the world by teaching the children to be lights by using their knowledge to make good choices.

I am a mother of 3 adult children, 2 of whom are twins. I have worked with children of all ages including infants (unpaid) - nursery in church, (paid) K-8 at a Montessori school, and volunteering many times for church and school activities over the years. Their precious child(ren) will be safe and well cared for on my watch. I am fluent in Spanish comprehension, but my conversation is somewhat less. I am fluent in French. My CPR certification will be renewed next week, and I am willing to secure First Aid certification. I will gladly obtain Live Scan if needed. In short.
