Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I once ran my iwn daycare when oldest was young for 4 yrs. I raised 2 daughters and have 3 grandchildren so I am experienced with children. I speak French fluently, sing, love crafts and outdoor activities, writing children's stories,cooking and taking walks. I have a CPR cert., food handler's card, Medical Assistant background and firstaid.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing crafts, painting, cooking, playing outdoor sports, singing, exploring, watching movies, playing board games , doing puzzles with children and the list goes on! I do encourage play that promotes imagination Iike make believe or playing with clay. I don't believe in using electronics as baby sitters. I want to interact with my kiddos!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The key to be being a good nanny is the same as being a good parent. One must interact with children, play with them, listen to them and include them in what you are doing as much as possible. Youustvdhow them respect and you will get it in return. Most importantly is consistency in all you do. You must be firm but kind. No is no. You must understand that just because they are a child doesn't mean thay can't have a bad day. They have feelings too. You must be very sensitive and intuitive to that. Which means sometimes they may need extra attention or quiet time, or need to express their feelings. You have to get to know each one and their each unique little personality.
My experience with special needs children...
I had a cousin in France whose care I assisted with when I lived there. My aunt had rubella when she was pregnant with her. She was high functioning but delayed and had many health issues. I helped with medication, teaching her to match her clothes and tasks like shopping and laundry,cooking and hygiene. She was lovely.
