At Dekalb high school i took 2 children courses called child development and child care. During the child care course my school was actually a daycare as well. This allowed each student to be responsible for 1 child in the classroom until the end of the day. We did things such as prepare snacks, had rug time, had story time, sung educational songs and did educational activities and go outside when it was nice out. This was an awesome experience.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love arts and crafts and singing songs! I love reading books and really getting into character while I read the book to the child! Anything educational I make exciting for me to teach because that is usually the most trickiest part children tend to get distracted of most.
My experience with special needs children...
I cared for an elder with Alzheimers and dementia for a few months last year, she was a vert sweet elder that I cared for dearly. I also have experience with 2 4-5 year old boys that had ADHD and slight autism. I have experience with a 6 year old during a classroom setting would sometimes have anxiety or panic attacks because of his autism. To call him down we would separate him out of the busy setting and calm his nerves until he is comfortable again.
