Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been cpr & first aid certified since high school and I have over 10+ years experience in child care. I am the 2 oldest out of 10 raised mostly by a single mother. Because of this I spent a lot of my time caring for my siblings, and children in my community who were also in the same boat. I also spent a lot of time volunteering at my local boys and girls club and mayor’s office to help kids in my community with things like homework, activities, and so much more. I spent most of my life taking care of children and have grown to truly love it. I’m so passionate about taking care of kids not only because of my past but also because I’ve seen how important it is to have a village when raising a child. I’ve see that kids are better off when they have that extra support first hand, and I’ve see how much of a positive impact it’s also had on the parents of those kids. So I want to keep being apart of that village so more kids and families can have the privilege of an easier life.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I grew up in Alaska so I love all things outdoor. I also feel kids now a days don’t get enough time in nature or just outside in general. Because of this I love taking kids to the park or out to play with thier bikes, skateboards, etc. I also enjoy doing creative activities with kids like painting at the park or mini cookie decorating picnics with thier friends and things of that nature. I also enjoy taking kids to the library or doing anything that helps spark that love for learning in kids at a young age. I’ve found kids just want things to be fun and reading can definitely be fun if done right. I enjoy also helping kids stay in tune with their imagination by playing games like dress up, king of the fort, and so much more. I’m honestly a big kid myself so I’ll do anything to make sure the kids have the time of their lives while also being safe and parent friendly.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny to me is making sure the child grows into their best version. My soul goal is to help the parents in raising the best child they can, and to support that child as much as I can, so they feel like they can achieve any and everything.
My experience with special needs children...
I grew up baby sitting for my aunt who has two kids with severe autism. Though the care prose was slightly different, they were just kids that wanted to have a good time. I loved caring for them, and learned so much in that time. I got to see them for who they are in spite of their disability. I felt like because they didn’t speak much people would always right off their distress all because they don’t express it the same as everyone else. This made me want to make sure they felt understood that much more. So when I took care of them my main priority was to make sure they felt heard and understood.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment as a nanny has been seeing my kids when they’re all grown up. It makes me so happy to have been a part of raising such amazing people.
