I’ve cared for a little girl with limited hearing, dyslexia and down syndrome. Her love language, I quickly learned, was quality time. She hated being lonely but also wanted time to collect her thoughts and sit in silence. We colored together, read the Guinness world record books and we’ve gone on picnics where we later searched for bugs to trap in a sand castle.
