My name is Rochelle I am Costa Rica citizen currently living in Costa Rica. I would like to introduce myself as a compassionate nanny, flexible, adaptable, fast learner and willing to learn new things as well. I have a 7 year old son and I have been recognized as a hard working mother, patient and honest, reliable individual with excellent skills in planning, organizing and prioritizing household activities. I am a 18 year old girl that is very responsible and respectable. I have 1 younger sibling that I have been taking care of since they were born. My mother worked a lot before so I’m very attached to them. I am currently working at Whole Foods part time but I’m actually looking for a second job. I will be attending foothill in the fall so that’s really exciting for me. I live at home with my mother and my sibling and step dad.

I have a baby brother less than two years old, and a friend’s toddler around the same age. I have toddler experience, changing diapers, feeding snacks and the bottle, playing and creative activities. Current experience, 2015 I use to volunteer in the preschool area of xx for a summer when I was 10 in 2001. My mom was a secretary for the Shelter and I use to weave in and out playing and watching out for these little ones and hanging out with my mom. I would serve milk; help the preschoolers eat their lunches and help set up for naptime. I would help entertain the ones that looked excluded. They were charming to me and I had the privilege to play with babies, as the teachers would herd the youngsters. When I was a child I had 3 significant women in their early 20's that were an influence to my childhood. The last 12 years they have slowly built their families. Now the roles have changed to where I get to be the cool older kid/big sister and their children get to have individual attention and connection with someone much older than their little selves. Starting with family friends including parents outside of my three childhood mentors, I would watch my little buddies when they were just about under 1 year of age as their moms would be in the background working on household matters and neglected work matters. The infants I babysat was xx 11yrs old) back in 2003 when my family first went to Portland and met xx newborn. Anya (10yrs old) back in 2004 when I would take the Caltrain up to Brisbane and watch Rebecca Cannara and Noah Bardac's few month old before they packed up and moved to Los Angeles and again when Anya was just about a year during a stay to my first introduction of LA. One other baby I watched was xx (now 6yrs old) when he was close to a year back in 2009 and his parents xx was kick starting a business and also getting into the process of moving. As the children gain siblings and grow older I have been spending quality time with them as a playmate, catching up with their parents and weaving back into social interaction with my little buddies. I am enthralled to see them zig zag into interests and personalities.

Ashmita is very caring, respectful, timely, and dependable! I’m a single mom and she’s been both an amazing friend and an excellent babysitter for my daughter. I’ve had to work late a few times and she has been able to pick her up from daycare and take care of her until I’m able to get off work. My daughter loves her and so do I! Highly recommend! - Alicia

How to Find a Babysitter in Mountain View, CA

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Mountain View, CA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Mountain View can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Mountain View Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in California?
  • Do you have a California driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
