Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I started babysitting in middle school! I studied a bit if elementary education in high school school, allowing me to student teach in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th! I taught the children’s bible class(4-6 year olds) at my church for 5 years! I am the go to for date nights and special events for a family with a 9 year old and a non-verbal 3 year old. I have worked in a church nursery, watching babies up to 5 year olds and I teach hip hop to 6-9 and 9-12 year old kids at the studio in my town called Key City Dance!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love building things whether it’s LEGOs blocks, magnets, or just random boxes! And playing make believe is my favorite. I think it is so good to keep them having an active imagination and as an actor, improv comes easy!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Balancing fun and playtime with respect and discipline. I feel that everyone is more happy when as the nanny you are friend and authority. Not just one or the other.
My experience with special needs children...
My aunt teaches special needs at the elementary school in my hometown! I had many opportunities to student teach with her and learn the ropes! I also did something called Jacket Friends at my school which is an extra curricular where I would just spend time playing and talking with our special needs students. I learned so much from that experience. Patience and kindness being the most important.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The 4 year old boy I last had the pleasure on nannying loves playing pretend. And one morning he decided to pull out his big tunnel(picture blue foldable circle that opens into and big tube) he put one end on my lap and crawled in the other side toward me and said “Now you be the toilet and I’ll be the poop!” and proceeded to make me act out pushing the handle and flushing him down😂
