More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I’ve done volunteer work with hospitals and hospice centers as well as food drives and clothing give always for the homeless. Though these aren’t inherently tied in with child care, I can’t tell you how many families with kids that I’ve helped in these jobs. When I volunteered at the hospital I would get kids snacks and even help them back to their parents. At my food and clothing drives, I would help children go through the piles and find their size and hype them up with the clothes they picked, so they felt better about themselves. During my time in hospice care I’ve consoled and looked after countless families, entertained kids while their parents went in to talk to their loved one, etc.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure that a child is happy, healthy, safe, and loved! I don’t believe that a babysitter/nanny should just be there to make sure the kids get what they need. Being a nanny means to me that you’re engaging with the kids, learning their favorite colors and what food they like to eat. Playing hide and seek with them. Happiness is a key part
My experience with special needs children...
At my day job, we have a regular customer who comes in with his son Jason. Jason is autistic and has Tourette’s . Every time he comes in I make sure he gets the specific type of cup he’s comfortable with, talk with his dad and see if he needs anything, package their order just how Jason feels comfortable with etc. though this isn’t a direct link to child care of special needs kids, it gave me a little insight into how special need kids need accommodation. They have comfort objects, their safe food, fears of seemingly irrational objects/situation...and sometimes need to have a SPECIFIC cup from a restaurant that they go to all the time because it’s the only one they’ll go to

I am CPR/First Aid/AED certified through the American Red Cross and completed all necessary federal background checks to work in the school system. Before the pandemic started, I was shadowing multiple occupational therapists at different grade levels. I enjoy being creative with art/music and exploring the outdoors. I am looking to bond with a family and help in any way possible!

Part-Time Nanny Available in St. Augustine, FL: Lanie H.
Hi! My name is Lanie. I have 7+ years of childcare experience. Including one year of one-on-one nannying with an incredible toddler. I believe in “gentle” parenting, Montessori learning, and other like-minded tactics that promote curiosity, independence, confidence, and life skills. Growing minds need a safe and nurturing environment, surrounded by supportive mentors that help them navigate every obstacle, whether emotional, mental, or quite literally an “I can’t reach that yet” obstacle. I am an avid learner and am comfortable helping you implement learning activities into your child’s daily routine. I enjoy cooking, baking, gardening, and crafting! I love to share these hobbies with the little ones that I work with! I have two English Springer Spaniel puppies so I am comfortable with caring for animals that are in the home as well. If you decide that I am a good fit for your family, I promise to love and spoil your tiny humans as if they were my own!
