A little bit about me

I have been working with children of all ages for over 25 years. I have experience with special needs children (especially ASD). I have worked in daycare settings, school settings, and in-home settings.
I am a single parent of 2 boys age 23 and 14, both of which are on the autism spectrum. I have been homeschooling my youngest since 2016 when he started 1st grade.
I am not currently up to date on my CPR/First Aid, but I am working on it.
I am animal friendly (except for bugs and spiders) and do have pets of my own (dog)

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I was a homeschool teacher and taunted at a co-op. The subjects I taught were college level “Anatomy and Physiology” to young high school aged students, “The Mind of a Serial Killer” to young high school aged students, “Learning About Animals Through Creative Crafting” to mid elementary school aged students, and “Learning About Plants” to young elementary school aged students.
I also was head teacher at multiple daycare facilities for ages 1 year - 3 years old. And assistant teacher at multiple daycare facilities for ages 6 weeks - 3 years old
I have also done after school tutoring for kindergarten to 8th grade students.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe that children learn from anything and everything they do throughout their lives. I enjoy teaching children new and exciting things.
I love reading to children and enjoy doing arts and crafts projects with them. I also like to include the children in cooking and cleaning up so they can eventually do it for themselves as teens and adults.

My experience with special needs children...

I have over 30 years of special needs experience. My younger brother (32) and both of my children (23 and 14) are on the autism spectrum. My brother and youngest child have Asperger’s Syndrome, and my oldest has Pervasive Developmental Disorder. My children also have ADD/ADHD. My 14 year old has severe anxiety, depression, PTSD, and Crohn’s Disease and has had an ostomy bag and multiple surgeries.
