A little bit about me

My background is in psychology but early in my career I found that I enjoyed working with children. In school, I took several child development courses. I grew up holding multiple babysitting jobs where I was responsible for looking after children from ages 1 to 12. I also have experience with raising my nephew, though obviously this wasn't paid. My sister had him fairly young and relied on my help to take care of him while she worked. I previously supervised the Franklin County Court Appointed Special Advocate program as well and received a great deal of relevant training. Additionally, I worked as an intensive care coordinator for Piedmont Community Services where I worked with children and their families to meet goals and reform their family system to benefit them. I'm look for part-time work but may consider full-time work as well. I'd love to help your family!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I supervised the Franklin County Court Appointed Special Advocate program where we gave voices to children involved in welfare proceedings. I spent a great deal of time speaking with the children and working to advocate for them. I also worked as an intensive care coordinator for Piedmont Community Services where I worked with children and their families in order to meet their treatment goals, overall goals and to help transform their family system all together. I've worked as a mentor as well for a 12 year old for about a year where I helped to teach her everyday life skills, including money handling and socialization. I also worked a few summers at Girl Scout Camp as a counselor for the younger Brownies (approx. ages 3 - 8).

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to spend outdoor time with kiddos, for example going to the park, going for short hikes, collecting foliage/rocks and making them into art projects, picnics etc. I also enjoy some indoor activities as well. I'm an avid reader and will always encourage some reading time. I also like working on arts and crafts with children as well as some simple cooking/baking projects.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part about being a nanny is treating someone's child how you would want yours to be treated. It's important to listen to and respect the needs of the children and the family.
