I love taking the kids I’ve worked with on walks, to play hide and seek, to the park, on picnics, to the movie theater, to indoor obstacle courses (get air, awesome indoor playground, etc.), to go swimming, and to anything else I know they would enjoy!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is making both the child(ren) and their parent(s)/guardian(s) comfortable. I always do my best to ensure that every child is happy and having fun in my care, but also that everything that I am being asked to do with that child is being completed (homework, pickup/dropoff, discussing certain values, maintaining a specific image, assisting in specific areas, etc.).
My experience with special needs children...
My mom was a special needs instructor for 2 years, and I routinely got to serve as a sort of “aide” by helping the students with anything they needed. This included homework help, walking to and from specific locations, explaining things in a way that is easy for them to understand, and sometimes just hanging out with them! I got to play board games with a few students frequently, it was a lot of fun.
