A little bit about me

Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me. My name is Ms. Itson, and I am a 42-year-old woman with more than 20 years of experience working with children/adults of all ages, with a primary focus on persons with disabilities.
I am currently in the process of renewing my certifications in First Aid and CPR, covering infant care through adulthood.
With the school year recently coming to an end, after 15 years of teaching within the Duval County school system. I am looking to help families with their little bundles of joy.
I greatly appreciate the opportunity to be considered as a candidate to care for your precious loved ones, and I look forward to the possibility of supporting your family.
Thank you for your consideration.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Former educator, professional nanny, and compassionate caregiver with extensive experience nurturing and supporting children of all ages. Deeply committed to service, I actively volunteer whenever possible and bring patience, reliability, and heart into everything I do.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Depending on the child/children ages; for very young toddlers around 1 to 2 years old. Simple sensory play is awesome, things like water tables, squishy playdough, or just stacking blocks. I could also introduce them to ASL "American Sign Language". For preschoolers around 3 to 4, more structured crafts, like finger painting or simple science experiments, work well. And for older preschoolers around 4 to 5 I would introduce more imaginative play, simple cooking activities, or even basic storytelling with props. The activities will increase with the age of the child/children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny/care provider is ensuring that every client receives the highest level of care tailored to their individual needs. I believe in maintaining consistency by following established routines and schedules, creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment at all times. My priority is making sure every responsibility is handled with attention and care, while always putting safety first. I value clear, open communication with families through an open-door approach, ensuring trust, transparency, and immediate access to important information, including emergency contacts and care instructions. Above all, I am dedicated to providing exceptional care, peace of mind for families, and creating an environment where those in my care feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for.

My experience with special needs children...

I have extensive experience working within the disabled community, providing compassionate care and support to individuals across a wide range of needs, including those on both the high and low ends of the autism spectrum. I have worked with individuals who are higher functioning as well as those requiring full hands-on assistance with daily living activities such as feeding, personal hygiene, mobility support, and overall personal care. I am committed to doing whatever is necessary to ensure each individual receives the highest quality of care, while also encouraging independence by teaching and empowering them to develop life skills and do as much as possible for themselves. My passion is helping others grow, thrive, and live with dignity.

The most important part about being a nanny...

While working with Duval County Public Schools, I was assigned to Alden Road Exceptional Student Center, where I worked one-on-one with a nonverbal, often violent student who had a feeding tube and tended to elope and resist wearing clothes. I built trust through patience and consistency, learning her unique communication style. By reinforcing positive behaviors and reducing triggers, I helped her thrive in a safe, supportive environment. This experience reinforced my belief that individualized care, trust, and open communication transform lives.
