More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have been taking care of children for most of my life. I am the eldest of 4 and the eldest grandchild on my maternal and paternal side. I began paid babysitting at 14 and I've been in love with it ever since! Growing up my grandmother had a daycare specially for children with delevopemental disabilities where I helped her out. So, I have experience with many ages and abilities. In college, I was the ambassador of my department giving me experience working with high school age youth and advising.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy going to the parking and swinging, counting, running around and getting all the energy/ wigglies out! I mostly like to listen to kids talk. I don't think people listen to kids enough, kids are incredibly smart!
My experience with special needs children...
Growing up my grandmother had a daycare specially for children with delevopemental disabilities where I helped her out. So, I have experience with many ages and abilities. To add, I am very proudly autistic and adhd. I believe that with the right understanding and care disabled kids/people can do whatever we strive to do. I was diagnosed as an adult and didn't have the opportunity to know about my disabilities until later, so I'm deeply invested in helping children learn some tools I didn't learn until way later! Disabled kids are cool <rockstar emoji>!
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moment is when a kid frigid and closed off but open up like a flower. I love how some children really make you work for their trust. I like those kids. They are super wise, loyal, and protective of their family. They also play the hardest! Recently, I had a little girl tell her dad that she wouldn't leave with him because her and I were friends, and we were going to play together. Very matter-of-factly she said, "I'll call you when I'm coming back, Daddy!" Those are my favorite moments. Building that kind of trust.
