The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is a combination of several key factors. While one single thing might not be the most important, these elements work together to create a successful and fulfilling relationship with both the children and their parents, while safety is the #1 priority, what truly sets a nanny apart is the combination of a nurturing spirit, a commitment to a child's development, and the professional skills of communication and reliability.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One of my favorite moments was working with a four-year-old who was struggling to learn the letters of the alphabet. Instead of using flashcards, I decided to take a Montessori-inspired approach. We went outside and collected sticks, leaves, and small stones, and used them to create the shapes of the letters. The child was so excited to be a 'nature artist' and was able to connect with the learning process in a hands-on, engaging way. By the end of the week, they were not only recognizing the letters but were also proudly teaching the 'nature alphabet' to their younger sibling. It was a wonderful reminder of how children learn best through play and exploration, and how rewarding it is to see a child's confidence grow.
