I went to school originally to be a teacher thrn changed majors to Business Management but did not finish due to family health commitments.
Both of my parents as well as my older brother have passed away and the family that I do stay in contact with are from where I grew up in Schuylkill County or spread around in different states. I keep to myself. I don’t drink or use drugs and I also do not smoke. I’m a spiritual gal; I am a faith filled individual but I am not one to force my beliefs on others but ask for that same respectful boundary as well. I love to learn new so I’m always open for any type of in depth conversations. I’m not one to heavily use my phone while working and will always find something to keep me busy. Last minute trips or self care days are not a problem either.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked in multiple child care facilities including special needs departments. Have cared for children honestly since I was a 10 year old for my family and those that knew of me or my relations. Graduated highschool with diploma but also teacher’s Aide certification to work in early child education.
Since age 18 I've also been an active part of my dear friends support systems as well as their extended families while they started their parenthood journey. The oldest now being 21.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Indoor/outdoor activities. Tummy Time and motor skills movement. Simple kid friendly recipes. Edible play dough! (NOT Peanut allergy friendly); any kind of learning activity, sing along songs, going to the park or help with swimming; brushing teeth and also just getting to know the child’s interests or favorite hobbies; I love ceramic painting and doing crafts as well as decorating!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Safety and giving the child options and choices; letting them have a voice to express their feelings without worry. And just getting to watch kids be kids and sometimes you just need some life advice from a kid. They’ll tell you if your shoes are ugly. They’ll tell you if you stink. They're the most authentic people to be around.

My experience with special needs children...

Took courses while in college that were part of my major. Went to vocational school and had educational in class lectures as well as clinical hours as well. Sensory and motor skill supports. Some involvement with speech therapists. Any type of physical restriction that required special training (i.e wheel chair, lifts, electric scooters or adjustable beds) are always in my first few questions to note so I can be properly prepared and trained for that specific child’s situation prior to start date.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My younger cousin did not speak to me for 3 years because I made him brush his teeth with adult toothpaste. His last words to me during tuck in time was “I’m mad at you and not gunna talk to you again for 3 years after I wake up in the morning!”
I told him that was ok and if he talked to me sooner we could pretend it’s been 3 years.
All because his parents forgot to pick up children’s toddler/kid age toothpaste but to be completely transparent, he was 6 using his baby brother’s “gum toothpaste gel” so technically the toddler/kid age toothpaste wasn’t what he used on a routine basis anyways.
He literally held up his promise for the entire 3 years. When he said hello to me on Christmas I happily screamed, hugged him and said “YOU FINALLY TALKED TO ME!!” My gram asked why he ignored me. His mom responded “because Samantha made him brush his teeth.” And my little cousin quickly added, “yeah with grown up toothpaste! Not the one for kids!”
