I’ve always helped my mom out at her own nanny jobs and learned a lot of important tips and tricks as well as gaining a lot of knowledge on understanding and sympathizing with the kids. As a lifeguard I’ve had to learn how to balance allowing the kids to have a fun time while also enforcing important rules. With my own baby brother who’s eleven years younger I’ve seen every scenario possible with an energetic toddler!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Coloring, playing house, going on walks, working on sight words and math facts, running around in the backyard, or having some quiet playtime in the playroom, are some common activities most of my kids have really enjoyed in the past. It all depends on the kids personality and the family’s needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

One of the kids I worked with recently had a deep fear of submerging his head underwater. His parents put him in swim lessons at YMCA and I remember him struggling so much with the lessons. Every week I’d try getting in his backyard pool with him and encouraging him to go under for even a few seconds. I’ll never forget how excited he was when he ran up to me after finally going underwater during one of his lessons!
