A little bit about me

I’m a current licensed toddler teacher, and am passionate about the work of caring for our earliest learners. I earned a BA in philosophy in 2012, and have completed Montessori training for ages 0-3.
I favor working with the 0-3 age group, and am seeking a family or small group of families to work with as their infants grow.
I deeply love my job as an early learning teacher. I am equally dedicated to my family, and require firm boundaries with my employers regarding working over agreed upon hours and being compensated as any talented professional should be.
I am calm, gentle, and firm with my boundaries in the classroom- I believe children are worth being treated with dignity, and are able to extend the same treatment to others.
My primary work is not to teach numbers, colors and shapes- it is to model and practice healthy social interaction, develop and encourage language, and foster independence through trust and kindness.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I’ve au-paired in Spain, worked at a youth shelter, cared for kids of all ages in the nursery of a swanky gym, studied and led Montessori classrooms for infants, young toddlers and preschoolers, and have assisted in a Montessori Primary classroom.
I speak fluent German, and am willing to discuss a contract which includes dual-language or immersive German language with your child. I am currently a lead classroom teacher for 2-3 year olds in an immersion school.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe children should learn by doing. The Practical Life aspect of the Montessori pedagogy is one of the most fundamental ways to watch children learn how capable they are. I believe 0-3 need daily outdoor work and play, as well as creating meals, making art, and practicing self care. Reading and music also play a significant role in developing language.

My experience with special needs children...

I have limited experience with children who have ASD. I am not trained to work with children who are unable to move independently, require more than light daily medical care, or display violent, aggressive or other inappropriate behaviors outside of the realm of normal toddler behavior. I am willing to discuss details or questions.
