Greetings, my name is Sarah Marquez, I am 23 years old, and I have 8 years of babysitting experience. Coming from a close-knit family, I was able to start babysitting my nephews when I was 15. They are now 10 and 12 years old. In the year 2017, I moved to San Francisco to attend university. There, I began to babysit for a family of 5 for about four years. At first, they only had two kids; a young boy and a girl. However, during my last year with them, they welcomed another baby boy. As life went on, I began to think about the city I've always wanted to live in - New York City. Finally, last year, I moved from California to Brooklyn, New York. I met the parent of my next babysitting job while working as a hostess at a restaurant. Today, I babysit their 10-year-old son every now and then when they need me, which is only for a few hours every other week or so. I am looking to help a family that can offer more consistency. Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Besides babysitting professionally, I was involved in an evangelical Christian organization called Young Life for most of my youth, where summer camps were a major focus. When I was 14, I lived at a camp called Woodleaf in San Diego, CA for one month. I was a dining hall server for middle school-aged campers. The next summer, under the same Young Life org, I volunteered for a program called Young Lives at another camp called Lost Canyon in Flagstaff, Arizona. Young Lives invited teen mothers and their children to enjoy Young Life camp with all the accommodations needed for the children taken care of. I had the task of working in childcare for the older kids aged 4-6 years old for about 6-8 hours each day. Meanwhile, the moms enjoyed the camp's activities and amenities. It was a very rewarding experience that ultimately shaped who I am today.

I believe kids can thrive with very little-to-no screen time as possible. When they are with me, I can assure you they will be engaging in conversation, playtime, art-making (I love to paint at home and can bring all kinds of materials), working with clay, and I can teach them how to crochet, etc. For older kids, I have found that music, dancing, and puzzles are fun!
