More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked as a live-in nanny, and a live-out nanny in my late teens and early twenties.
I worked in daycare centers, preschools, and provided in (my) home child care throughout my twenties and thirties while I was raising my own children.
In my forties I have worked for Central Valley School District as a lead cook, supervisory assistant, paraeducator, and most recently as an educational assistant (assistant teacher) in the Early Learning Center. (This is confirmation that I’ve had a recent background check, food handler’s permit, and fingerprinting done.)
This is all in addition to having raised four children of my own (one of which is a married college graduate, and one of which is a married college student, and two of which are high school students at the STEM high school, Spokane Valley Tech,) and being a former foster parent in the state of Washington.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Loving the children like they're your own...or, (as I am 48 with two married children now), like they're your own GRANDchildren is pivotal to providing quality care. Additionally, honoring and respecting the family’s child-rearing practices and culture is essential, as well as practicing play based learning as often as caregiving allows.
My experience with special needs children...
My youngest child (who is now 16 and a half and brilliant!) is on the autism spectrum, and I currently work in a preschool with inclusive classrooms. I've worked with students who have medical issues, behavioral issues, and developmental delays.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Last year one of my students (who was actively potty training) emerged from the bathroom with no pants on, and announced, "Mrs. Moss, my fart fell on the floor." I looked in the bathroom, and sure enough, he'd pooped on the floor. After I stopped laughing, I got him cleaned up and washed the floor. I still laugh about that one--my whole family does!
