I have tutored younger children, I have cared for my little brother and niece, and I am a lifeguard, so every summer I spend lots of time watching over children and making sure they don't get hurt.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Playing tag, hide and seek, coloring, singing songs, watching movies, playing video games, making up stories, playing make believe, playing with toys; all of these are plenty fun for me as well as the children!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think the most important thing with being a nanny, or spending time with children in general, is making sure there is a clear line of communication between the caregiver and the child. A lot of frustrations can be cleared up with being patient and listening to each other.
My experience with special needs children...
My little brother has anger issues, and plenty of my friends are special needs, not to mention I myself tend to get sensory issues; I understand it takes patience to work with children who have special needs, and I am willing to put in the work to understanding and communicating in their ways. I also know quite a bit of ASL for anyone nonverbal or mute!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Some fun memories I have with watching my little brother is teaching him sign language; he often calls my father a silly chicken!
