A little bit about me

I've worked with children a lot over the past 5 years. I started with babysitting for family and family friends, then working for Bright Horizons with a 2 - 3 year old class (still my favorite job thus far) then into nannying. I worked for a family of 4 children. 3 years, 5 years, 8 and a 12 year old. Each with their own HUGE personalities. Then onto a family of 3 children. 4 years, 6 and 10 years. Each child I got to know, each with different likes, dislikes and ways of expressing themselves, some sweet, some... a little - less sweet. But I learned with a little patience, you get to be their best friend. I ended up working for an Optomitrist in carlisle, I am a tech for the Vision Therapy doctor and though there are plenty of adults we work with, the kids are still my favorite part of the day! I'm looking for a one day a week gig that'll earn me a little extra funds and a little extra f u n.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I worked in a day care called Bright Horizons for a year and a half. I was the lead teacher of a classroom with 12, 2 - 3 year olds that I got to know and love. After that, a nanny for 4 and then a nanny for 3.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love letting them explore and be curious. It's amazing to watch them use their own little brains to create. I also enjoy getting them outside. Exploring leaves, flowers, the earth and having discussion about it all, hearing what they think. Reading with them is also at the top of my list. Learning words and helping them understand language.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is making the children feel safe and knowing that they can trust me.. They can have such a hard time knowing that mom or dad are leaving them for any amount of time at all so I only want for them to know that I will take just as good care of them as you do.

My experience with special needs children...

I had a couple kids come and go through my room that struggled a bit whether it was with communication, listening or needing one on one. I always tried my best to make sure I gave these children what I could. Whether that had been extra love, attention or different types of toys, sensory activities or environment.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My oldest brother passed away 3 years ago. ago. I was working around some of the preschoolers on the day of his birthday shortly after.. I was a little sad when one of the girls - 6 years old asked what was wrong. I told her I was missing my brother. She asked where he was and I told her "Heaven". She then proceeded to say this "It's OK Miss. Savannah. Heaven is beautiful and so are you". And it is moments like that, that remind me why I love these tiny humans so much!
