Hi! My name is Scarlett, and I’m a 19 year old sophomore at Louisiana State University with a passion for working with children of all ages and abilities. As the oldest of many siblings and cousins, caring for kids has always come naturally to me.

I currently work at a daycare inside a gym, caring for children from 3 months to 11 years old. I also volunteer and work with middle school and high school students through community and sports programs. I am CPR certified, have reliable transportation, and a valid driver’s license.

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I currently work at a daycare inside a gym caring for children from 3 months to 11 years old. I have also babysat for family friends, including overnight care, and helped watch younger children during volunteer work and sports programs. Through school and community activities, I’ve worked with both middle school and high school students in mentoring and support roles. Being the oldest of many siblings and cousins has also given me lifelong hands-on childcare experience.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy both indoor and outdoor activities depending on the child’s age and needs. Indoors, I like doing creative play such as arts and crafts, reading, puzzles, educational games, and helping younger children with learning activities. Outdoors, I enjoy going to parks, playing sports, doing simple games like tag or scavenger hunts, and encouraging safe active play. I also like helping children stay engaged in fun but structured routines.

My experience with special needs children...

I have experience working with children who may have sensory or behavioral needs, including situations where a child needed help calming down during a difficult moment. In one instance, a child was upset and chewing on unsafe objects, so I calmly redirected them to a safe, soft item designed for oral sensory support. After using it for a while, the child was able to self-regulate and calm down. I focus on patience, safety, and understanding each child’s individual needs.
