More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
In college, I volunteered for Chicago Lights, which is an after school daycare. I assisted with meals, classes and one on one tutoring. The children were ages first grade through high school.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love planning outtings, such as going to the pool or the zoo. I love doing crafts such as painting, play dough or holiday based crafts. Most importantly, I love discovering children's passions and basing play around those activities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part of being a nanny is making each child feel seen and understood. I do my best to encourage and build their confidence. I do this through active listening and words of affirmation. I want each child to feel cared for and loved.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moments are the funny spontanous times. One example, would be playing with play dough with a 3 year old. She made me play dough dessert and instead of the typical this is so good, I pretended like she poisoned me! She was so surprised by this and thought it was so funny! She immediately jumped into character saying in her best evil voice, "Try thissss oneee...." and we laughed and laughed! Another time, I was playing with a 3 and 8 year old. We had just about 15 minutes before their parent arrived. I grabbed the flashlight and turned off the lights. We told stories, got the audience to play the character in our story by flashing the light on them in the right moment, showed them how to make animals out of their hands on the wall and ended it with a dance party!
