Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Going to the park for free play and doing a scavenger hunt to identify trees and plants. Swimming. Taking walks. Activities like cooking, coloring and art project. Side walk chalk. Fun activities to learn about each season, letter/color of the day. I prefer the create an age appropriate schedule with daily activities. I believe that children thrive and feel secure when they know what to expect each day.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Being in a position to make a difference in a child’s life. Several children I cared for have gone on to become doctors and graduated from Ivy League universities. It’s rewarding to know I helped in their early childhood growth and development.
My experience with special needs children...
My son is on the spectrum and has ADHD. I have cared for special needs students while driving the school bus, volunteer teaching in my community, while substitute teaching at Hamilton Southern schools and as an aid at Hamilton Southern school.
The most important part about being a nanny...
When children I’m carrying for are thriving, learning and happy while meeting or exceeding developmental milestone. When I know that I have made a difference in their life. When our time together is fun and full of exciting adventures. When we have built a solid relationship with trust and mutual respect. When the children understand that I’m an extension of their parents and a part of the team who only wants what’s best for them and feel comfortable with me in that position so they feel safe. I enjoy hugs and mutual affection which indicates the bond we have developed. At this point I know things are going well. All these points make my position rewarding.
