I have experience caring for children with mild autism and some with non-verbal. I think it's important to communicate with families first and foremost to establish norms and care preferences. In my former experience, patience and boundaries is the foundation of caring for children on the autism spectrum, along with finding ways to keep children engaged in and excited by activities.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many favorite moments, but some of my favorite ones are when I have families I used to consistently work for reach out to me for an occasional night and the children are so excited to see me again. It warms my heart knowing I have an impact.
