A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Sophie, I currently work as an inter-facility transfer EMT, and take classes at CCSF for my degree. I am looking for a part-time nanny position in the city for the evenings after I attend class and days off work. I am a musician and come from a loving, supportive and artistic family. I look up to my mother, who is a children's art educator. I have traveled around the world to learn organic agriculture techniques as well take time to learn from different cultures. I am inspired by children's imagination and mindsets and love to play music, make art, and read aloud. I am capable of thorough cleaning and meal preparation, having extensive experience in restaurant service and bakeries. I love learning and have maintained a high academic standard throughout my schooling experience. I have a calm and friendly personality, can handle and enforce boundaries but would not consider myself strict. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to support any family as a nanny!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have spent time babysitting family friend’s children and working with my mother in her children’s art studio and at her library events. I work as an EMT and have worked shifts on the Neonate, Infant, and Pediatric transport ambulance as well as receiving training in child interaction in emergency situations through my EMT course and child influence through my Child Development course at City College of San Francisco.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to spend time making art and reading aloud. I would want to take the children to the library or to the park. I feel like it is important to encourage and inspire imagination and creativity through story building and creating art and music.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny or anyone involved in childcare is making a good impact on the children around you. Children learn from watching and they will take to heart what they see, so it’s most important to set a good example while keeping the child out of danger and encouraging their joy for life.

My experience with special needs children...

I have no professional experience with special needs children and limited personal experience. However, I understand that every child is unique including special needs children. For some children it is important to have more experience and understanding in order to care for them safely and for other children you need extra patience and empathy. From my past experiences I would consider myself observant, empathetic and patient which I understand is needed for all children including special needs children.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have not had previous professional nanny experience. My favorite moment with a child was when I was looking after my family friend’s kid at my house in the forest. We were walking in the garden and he was telling me all the names of the plants and if they’re edible or not. It was so cute and incredible to see his knowledge and excitement that he could teach me something and how much he loved the plants around him. We spent the rest of our time building tiny homes for fairies out of twigs and moss and planning out the village where all the fairies live. I loved to see what he thought of when he considered all the different shops the fairies would need.
