I'm currently a stay at home mom to a 22 month old toddler. My husband is a teacher and I previously worked in higher education before leaving the job force to care for my child. My master's degree is in education and I completed coursework in child development. Most importantly, I have work and personal experience caring for and teaching infants and toddlers. My favorite activity while working with children is being outdoors, whether on a playground or simply walking down the street. Fresh air, sunlight, and nature are great mood boosters, especially for tiny ones. I also love to sing with children and play pretend.

I will need to bring my toddler with me while caring for another child. This would offer an amazing socialization opportunity for the children involved while allowing me to re-enter the workforce to contribute financially to my family. I am happy to provide fingerprints, background checks, and get CPR First Aid certified.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I nannied on two different occasions. The first was with a 1 year old toddler when I would watch him at his home while his parents worked. We played outside often and I would serve him his meals. The second occasion was with a 3 year old toddler and his baby sibling. I'd watch them at their home when their parents went out. We played with toys, I'd prepare their meals and also put them to sleep for nap and bedtime.

In addition, I taught swim lessons to children between the ages of 4 and 7.

I also have my own toddler so I have first hand experience caring for a young child.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Going to the playground, playing in the yard, taking walks, swimming, singing, dancing, playing with toys, coloring, reading, pretending to cook, watching Sesame Street or Ms. Rachel.

I am quick to adapt to whatever a child is interested or engaged in at the time.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is having a positive influence on the children I watch and being there for them in tough moments when they are feeling overwhelmed or a range of mixed emotions.

It's important to be a support and compassionate person for children as they are exploring the world and learning how to behave and interact in different circumstances.

I mostly enjoy teaching and modeling prosocial behavior.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Was when I was preparing to put the 3 year old toddler I was watching down for bedtime. First I helped him brush his teeth but he was more interested in talking, so it took a while. I listened to his story in between spitting, brushing, rinsing and gentle nudging to finish brushing his teeth.

Then when it was time for bed, he crawled into his bed but instead of sleeping, banged on the wall with his feet. I walked in several times to ask him to stop and also place him right side up in his bed. Ultimately, he fell asleep with his feet on the wall. It was ridiculous but a funny, memorable moment.
