A little bit about me

I was a caregiver at 19 and worked at the Madison Estates. I would wash and fold my clients laundry, bathe them, change diapers, feed them, etc. At 22 I was an after school teacher with NISD for a year working with behavioral and sped students. I was always paired with the most difficult kids because I would form great bonds with them as well. I would deal with kids that would elope, spit, hit, scratch, etc. I can handle a challenge. I work well with kids because I understand them even when they can be overwhelmed with big emotions in a little body. I teach my kiddos communication skills so they can express what they need before getting disruptive. But also how to self regulate when they do have tantrums. As for my personality, I’ve very out going and talkative. I enjoy making people laugh especially kids. I love the outdoors and going on hikes. If you have a very active kid I can keep up! I’m very big on doing fun activities like painting, drawing, oil pastels, watercolor, etc.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy doing arts and crafts like watercolor, drawing, and pastels. When I used to work with kids, they loved to play Mad Lib games with me which helped them understand nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc, while still making it fun. I also love nature, going on hikes, and playing I Spy with kids. It may sound silly, but I love playing pretend with kiddos; it's like stepping into their own little world.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The number one thing about being in childcare is the child's safety. Making sure they're safe and I'm their safe person. Also forming bonds with the kiddos. Yes, I'm responsible for taking care of them and getting certain things done, but also having fun with them as well. I want to be the kind of person that when they hear my name or that I'm coming over, they get excited, not anxious.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have many favorite moments with my old students, but I think the most memorable for me was when I told them I would be leaving, and one of my students was devastated because I was the only teacher there that "spoke kid". It just confirmed that I was able to make them feel comfortable around me and make them feel understood.
