I've worked at Kennedy Krieger Institute for a short period of time before I decided to become a full-time nanny.
I've worked for Baltimore City Public School for a little over 2 years.
I am a mother of 2 biological kids and 1 Bonus child. I will be hosting a Foreign Exchange Student this Fall 2022 while also assisting other students in finding a safe home during their stay here in America.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
While I mainly just assist families in finding the right Nanny for their family, I do love arts and crafts and outside activities. I love going to the library. If the child is allowed tv time and video games, I will join them! I am a gamer myself so I am usually good with bonding with my charges on that level.
I love music! As long as the parent(s) approve of the playlist I pull together, I will make sure to play a wide variety of music.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Remembering that this family chose you as the trusted Caregiver for their child(ren) and home. Being invited into someone's home and into their lives is the ultimate level of trust that you should never want to break. Not only does it ruin your livelihood, but it can ruin your reputation and cause some major trust issues with the family and you do not want to be the one to plant that seed of doubt.
Also, communication is VERY important! Do your best to keep all necessary parties informed and clear up any and all misunderstandings AS SOON as they occur. The longer you wait, the worse it will be.

My experience with special needs children...
During my employment with Baltimore City Public School System, I have worked with Autistic/Special Needs students who often needed guidance on redirecting their behavioral issues.
Having this experience helped me to get the position I had at Kennedy Krieger Institute. I loved working at KKI but I heard a lot of the visiting parents talk about how long the waiting list is for their child to get in and it's hard to find help outside of Kennedy Krieger and the school system. After hearing multiple complaints of this, I made it my mission to assist as many families as I could who couldn't get the immediate help they needed.
Having this experience helped me to get the position I had at Kennedy Krieger Institute.
