A little bit about me

My name is TJ Beckman (Tamela Jean)..I have raised hyperactive twins (ADHD...OCD). They are 28 now & responsible adults both working, drug & alcohol-free! While in College I worked at La Petite Academy in St. Charles, MO as the 4-year old class teacher. Was responsible for 10 kids by myself. Kids loved my class & I got various babysitting jobs from the parents because their children loved me! I am a very compassionate, loving person, patient , fun & friendly! I don't just watch the kids...I INTERACT WITH THEM. I 'm old school with a landline phone & answering machine so I will NEVER be ZONING OUT on a phone while with your children!! They will be my PRIORITY! My sons don't have kids, so sadly, I'm not a granny yet! Ha! But all this love, attention & care I have stored up inside me would be showered out on your children with JOY!! I've also done hospital housekeeping (last 10 years) mainly in the ER..have worked with psych behavioral patients & can handle fast paced routine

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

Going to the park, working on crafts, coloring, playing barbies or legos, drawing, water color painting, playing outside..taking little field trips to various places..libraries, museums, botanicaal gardens etc.

The most important part about being a nanny...

BEING THERE for the children...whatever the needs..changing them, feeding them, rocking them, playin with them, talking & listening to them, showing them you CARE about them & they are IMPORTANT!

My experience with special needs children...

I've worked with my own ADHD twin sons...raising them to adulthood & working with a behaviorial young adult (25) who was abandoned at our Emergency Room @Gateway Medical Center
in Granite City. He LIVED in our ER. At first all he said was Yes/No when I talked with him...then I began pointing to him & saying You Josiah (his name)..Me..TJ...and he would repeaat it..and the enxt daayy I'd come to work & see him & He Would REMEMBER my name...well then we actaully began chatting & he was putting sentences together. He was LIVING in our ER but no one was really interacting with him. After awhile he was tested by the State for a group home situation..and he PASSED! I was so happy for him (but also sad because he felt like a sonn to me)..Josiah was transferred from our Emergency Room to a group home up near Chicago! I like to think I played a small part in him getting a new life situation!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Well with my kids I babysat from the La Petite days was when these 2 boys & I were watching a Batman movie together...they suddenly broke out & started flying around the living room & acted like Batman..it was SO CUTE & funny!! For my own twin sons it's when we took a trip down to see THE ALAMO. in San Antonio....they absolutely LOVED IT!! When they were younger they were HUGE DAVY CROCKETT fans & they had these matching Coon Skin caps on & they'd use sticks & pretend to be "hunting"..It was very fun, memorable times!!
