A little bit about us…

Darby is a sweet autistic little girl who also has ADHD. Darby is very playful & smiles & laughs all the time. She may not always know when something around her is funny, but she uses her fake laugh when she hears everyone else laughing. She is a bit of a prankster. She will make sure that you see her doing something she is not supposed to do & while she is doing it will have a huge smile on her face. She needs someone with a lot of patience. She gets bored easily and requires almost constant companionship. Darby lives with Mom, Dad & Grandma. We would really like to find someone who takes to Darby as much as she takes to them. She is very talkative & mixes her own language into conversations. During the week, Darby is in morning Kindergarten, then goes straight from school to ABA Therapy from 12-4. Darby is very intuitive about figuring things out & will take off the SECOND she notices you are not paying attention. She is a runner, climber & dare devil. She does not understand danger & cannot play outside unless she is in a well fenced yard/park. We need someone full time on Saturdays & Sundays. Possibly Mon, Wed, & Fridays from 4:30 to 7:30 during the week. We also have a puppy, so nanny will need to be pet friendly. No drop off or pick is needed. Preference will be given to ABA Therapy/Spec Ed Para experience, as well as, persons with autistic children/siblings. Taking care of an autistic child is difficult & time consuming. You need patience, the ability to be consistant, firm & repetitive. It takes a really special person to care for them. If you think you are up to the challenge, please contact me. Not trying to scare anyone away, but don’t want to waste anyone’s time either. We would very much like to find someone trustworthy & reliable through this venue, but our optimism is waning after a year of looking and getting very few responses.
