A little bit about me

I recently studied Infant and Toddler Care at SFCC where I am working towards obtaining a degree in social services. I have 3 goals:

I would love to open a therapeutic child care center for children who have experienced trauma in their young lives.

I want to open a home for young women and their children helping the mothers with life skills, raising children and getting back on their feet.

I also desire to start an Adult Family Home catering to women with mental health disorders.

But those endeavors are a long ways down the road. 😜

I am strong in my Christian faith and it is my number one priority! I hope that my life exudes that to others. And if your beliefs are different than mine, I respect that and will not try to shove my faith in your face… 😉

It is true that it takes a village to raise a child, and I find it a great honor to be a part of that village. I absolutely adore little ones and I have since I was a child myself!

Non smoking/drinking/drug using!

Blessings

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Volunteer with children at Anna Ogden Hall, Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery, Hearth Homes, CASA, Kindergarten class assistant and at my previous church.

I began sitting for families part time when I was 11 years old and full time when I was 14 years old. I did that through the age of 18 years. Once I graduated from high school, not only did I work as a full time nanny, but I also worked in a daycare with the toddlers.

I truly LOVE 💗 caring for children of all ages and children who may need a little extra support due to disabilities or behavioral challenges.

Side Note: I am planning on getting CPR/ 1st Aid certified soon; my certification has since expired and although in an emergency, I will know what to do, I still believe that regularly doing the training is important and valuable.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to make and listen to music, dance, put together Lego sets, (I so badly want to check out the new Lego store downtown!) reading books with fun and animated voices and movement, teaching new skills, creating fun arts and crafts and exploring the world!

I love imaginative play and I know that it is critical for children to learn through play. Pretty much anything that the children want to do (that’s safe of course!) I also love to bake with children and go for walks.

I believe that screen time should be limited and meals/snacks healthy and appealing.

I love to get out in the community and experience Spokane with the kids in my care (assuming it is approved of by the parents).

I can help young children with their studies, just not math… I have a difficult time understanding it myself! I also can’t swim, but I’m able to jump in the water and help the child out, bringing them to safety.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Supporting the parents in the raising of their children and making a positive impact on the children. To me, it is important to stay with a family for as long as possible so that the children receive consistent care. I believe that the job of the parents is to guide the nanny in the best practices in caring for their children. Parents are to be held in high esteem and the nanny is only a helper to the parents; not the other way around 🤪

Therefore, the most important part of being a nanny is to support the parents in helping to guide their children through age appropriate skills and situations.

My experience with special needs children...

Down Syndrome, Angelmen’s Disorder, Epilepsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Mental/Behavioral Issues such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder, ADHD, OCD and Separation Anxiety to name a few.

If your child experiences or lives with something other than what I mentioned above, I will do all I can to learn how to care for their needs.

Years ago, I worked as a caregiver with the Arc of Spokane in one of their homes. I loved working there because I learned so much about different health issues. I was also a Nursing Assistant, but my license has since lapsed. 🤔 However, I am going to redo the CNA training so that I can become certified again.

The most important part about being a nanny...

Hearing a young child laugh from deep within! Love it!!! 🥰

I was caring for an infant and when she was about 5 months old, I laid her down on the floor and “loosely” tied a helium balloon string around her wrist. She had such a great time making that balloon dance; she was laughing so hard, I couldn’t help but laugh with her! And don’t worry, I never left her sight while the string was attached to her wrist, that is a dangerous risk to take and I am very safety oriented.

Simple things such as watching the birds and squirrels outside and raking leaves in the fall are a lot of fun for the children, and myself!

I also enjoy watching children grow up! It’s such an amazing and rewarding perk that comes with being a nanny!

Ella M. - Seeking Work in Spokane

Full-Time Nanny Available in Spokane, WA: Ella M.

Hi! My name is Ella, and I am currently an honors nursing student at Washington State University. I love working with children and creating a fun, safe, and supportive environment for families.

I previously worked as a private in-home caretaker for a 21-year-old with complex medical needs, which has strengthened my patience, compassion, responsibility, and caregiving skills. It has also taught me the importance of building trust and meaningful relationships with both individuals and families. I am dependable, hardworking, and genuinely passionate about caring for others.

I enjoy staying active, helping with routines and homework, doing creative activities, and being a positive role model for kids. As a future nurse, providing kind and attentive care is something that means a lot to me.

I would love the opportunity to get to know your family and be a positive, dependable presence in your children’s lives!
