The most important part about being a nanny/babysitter is being able to create a connection and a bond with the kids your looking after! Especially because their parents/guardians entrust you with their wellbeing and safety! I always strive to not just be a great babysitter but also be the person the children can feel safe and comfortable around!
My experience with special needs children...
I have worked with fellow students in my school with special needs such as autism, dyslexia, etc, including my own little brother who has auditory processing disorder. Most of my experience with them is helping them through their academic struggles and needs, while also finding comfortable ways of communication for them!
The most important part about being a nanny...
A funny moment for me was when I was looking after one of my dad's coworkers kids and she was absolutely adorable! In my family, we make this "special" fruit punch which only involves fruit punch and 7up. The girl was thirsty after an hour of playing with her toys and asked for a cup of it, saying she loved fruit punch! I did give her a cup, and when I did, she made the funniest sour face and said "she's spicy"! Even after the comment she still continuously drank it all!
