A little bit about me

My name is Valerie and I currently work at a retirement home specifically in the dementia center however I am moving to riverside soon (will be starting classes in the fall) and looking for work there. I have lots of experience working with people primarily children 3-5 and dementia residents, I know those are drastically different but you’d be surprised how similar it can feel sometimes haha
I love Pixar movies, painting ,drawing, and learning new things
So if your child likes any of those things
Maybe I’d be a good fit :)
I have purple hair and pride myself on teaching kids how to calmly express their feelings and learn how to express themselves
One of my former kids told me I look like an imaginary friend with my purple hair and “funky” shirt patterns I wear and I have never loved a title more than that
prefer working with younger kids and while I don’t drive can still help out with cooking, housekeeping, and grocery shopping, and pet care in addition to caring for the child

I was a leader in training at the ymca as a young teenager from the ages of 12-16
Basically helping assist the staff in working with the younger kids
I also have experience in helping direct the 1-3 year old room at my church for about 6 months

Making colorful treats , going on bike rides, making literally anything I can a learning opportunity, painting, helping with homework

The most important part about being a nanny...

I taught this 4 year old girl to ride a bike and she was doing great doing it on her own for the first time and once she got the hang of it she IMMEDIATELY started singing her “spooky songs” and tried to chase me on her bike it was the funniest thing once we were done I took her swimming and she was confident she could go without her floaties (despite only doing so for a few seconds at a time before) so I stood with her agreed to help her take them off and was ready to catch her when she needed me and she just starts swimming around the pool like it’s nothing
She was so proud of herself too she would try to hide her breaks from me like she wasn’t grabbing on to the side of the pool every few minutes
It was truly adorable to see how happy and confident she was and it was amazing being there to watch her confidence in herself grow
