Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I was a live in nanny for 2 years, for 3 children ages 4 through 13. before I started flying, and have 8 younger sisters. I am the eldest and my mom took care of foster kids, many of which had various developmental delays and or disabilities. Also, my sister is an ECMO baby and has cerebral palsy as well as down syndrome.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Anything that gets them outside if the heat isn't scorching is a must during the summer days. Otherwise I love to get them doing anything with arts and crafts or building projects. Something that gets them away from the constant use of electronics or television. Although a movie night out at the theatre is also a treat.
My experience with special needs children...
My sister has downsyndrome and cerebrial palsy as well as strokes leaving her with the the use of her left side very limited. OT and PT for years She also has had multiple surgeries as well as being born with two holes in her heart that were repaired through the ECMO machine. I can do feeding tubes and EMT work and have been a caregiver in a foster family that takes infants with special needs, so I have an array of experience and am comfortable with pretty much anything. I love kids and every child is a gift.
