More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
All of my experience comes from helping raise my younger, bipolar sister, or from watching my friend's children/nieces/nephews as a favor. I've also had a couple roommate's with kids before, whom I've assisted in giving care to. Never been alone with a baby for more than an hour or two, though. So unless you count pizza or thank you hugs, I've never technically been paid to do this before.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I'm super easy. I'll try just about anything at least once, and helping a child pursue their interests greatly pleases me. Even if I don't like something, I'm happy to pretend I do if it means making them more comfortable enjoying whatever it is they like. Stuff I actually enjoy (and would enjoy doing with children) includes, but is not limited to: singing, acting, dancing, games of all kinds (dice, board, computer, card, tabletop, physical [tag, red rover, floor is lava, etc] etc), puns, swimming, the stock market, cats, and self-improvement.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Is providing an atmosphere in line with the beliefs and traditions of the family to which the children belong. If the family doesn't let the kid(s) have sugar, they don't get it. If they only get so much screen time, that's all they get. It isn't my place to decide. That, to me, is the most important part of being a nanny. Respect.
My experience with special needs children...
I grew up with a cousin who was moderately mentally handicapped (took everything literally, believed everything everyone said at all times, couldn't lie). He was also mildly physically handicapped (could barely use his left arm). We were buddies, because he was super cool, but lots of folks tried to take advantage of him, which made me mad. I'm also used to interacting with a wide variety of special needs folks due to the profession my mother was in, that being social work. If I've learned anything from all my interactions, it really boils down to being kind and patient and empathetic. Everything else can be learned, but it has to start from a place of caring.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I had invited my friend to come with her kids to the athletic club I am a member of so everyone could enjoy the hot tub and sauna and do some swimming. Between when she agreed and when it was time to go, the oldest had invited her friends. I've got my own vehicle, which is a good thing, because I ended up having to play chauffeur to three 9-11yo girls while my friend drove everyone else. I go to the athletic club almost daily, but I've never had so much fun (so far) as I did that day.
The whole thing was a solid reminder of what being a kid is all about. Marco Polo, splashing around with abandon, breath holding, and ball fights and pool noodle slapping. This is my favorite nanny moment because I was able to provide the space in which all that happiness occurred. Being able to do such things grants me a peace and joy I have yet to be able to find in another way.

Hello, my name is Audrey. I am 25 and looking to become a nanny of an infant-5 yo. I have been through college and cosmetology school and at this point of my life I am working at a school as a recess aid/substitute teacher (grades pre-k - 8th). The reason I am in this work is because I have a lot of experience and truly love being in a fun joyful environment such as working with children. I also love, and find it so rewarding to be a part of that important developmental stage of life. I look forward to the opportunities that await! :)

I am a grandma that loves children! I have 10 grandchildren. I took care of my 4 oldest grand children most of their lives as they lived with us 90% of the time. Their ages range from 17 to 2 . Most of them are not close to us anymore in proximity, so really miss that, have lots of love and hugs to give!
